Individual Development Account

If someone offered to give you $3 for every dollar you save, would you gladly accept?

In partnership with Capital Area Asset Builders (CAAB) and Islamic Relief USA, the UPO Individual Development Account (IDA) program helps individuals build savings related to their goals for homeownership, higher education, and small business ownership. This special savings account provides a $3 to $1 match. Participants must reach a savings goal of $1000 to receive the $3000 in matching funds. In total, you can receive $4000 towards one of the below financial goals:

  • First-time home purchase
  • Education or job training
  • Small business development

To be eligible for the IDA program, you must:

1. Live in Washington, DC.

2. Have a full-time or part-time job. (Self-employment or receiving a stipend also counts.)

3. Total assets less than $10,000.
