Employment and Career Development

UPO's Employment and Career Development program prepares low-income DC residents for employment. The program uses a three tiered career development module (CDM) to prepare customers for employment.

CDM 1: Basic Career Development Services:
Focuses on customers who have more than a year of unemployment.

CDM 2: Advanced Career Development Services:
Focuses on customers who have no gaps in employment history, and have some professional credentials and/or certification.

CDM 3: Fast Track Services:
Focuses on customers, who are currently employed, but seeking
better employment and/or customers recently unemployed within
the past six (6) months.

Employment ready participants exit the program with the following:

  • Professional resume and cover letter
  • Enhanced job search skills
  • Fine-tuned interview skills
  • Employer referrals
  • Post-placement support
  • Referrals for need training and education
