Gleaning
Gleaning for Healthy Living On any given morning, volunteers can be found on local farms gleaning leftover crops that would otherwise go to waste. Gleaning is the process of harvesting foods that would not normally be marketable or economically profitable. The Gleaning for Healthy Living Initiative, goal is to ensure that low-income residents gain access to fresh fruit and vegetables that are not readily available in their communities. Through our partnership with the Mid-Atlantic Gleaning Network, we provide volunteers with opportunities to become a part of the fight on hunger and promote healthy food choices for the underserved.
